Turning a piece from start to finish usually takes approximately 10-15 hours of actual hands-on time.  Depending on the difficulty of the piece, its size, the density of the wood or the degree of delicacy, it may take much longer.  A fresh cut tree cut into manageable chunks may take up to four years of slow drying to the point that it can be turned.  Each piece is really a one-of-a-kind creation!
